Back to Contraception

Description

Rigevidon, often known as “the Pill,” is a combination oral contraceptive.

It is taken to prevent pregnancy. It includes two forms of female hormones: ethinylestradiol, an oestrogen, and a  Low dosage of the progestogen levonorgestrel.

You are protected against pregnancy in three different ways by the combined contraceptive pill. These hormones:

  1. prevent each month’s egg release from the ovary (ovulation)
  2. make it more challenging for the sperm to reach the egg by thickening the fluid in your cervix (at the neck of the womb)
  3. change the lining of the womb to reduce the likelihood that it will receive a fertilised egg
