Description
Rigevidon, often known as “the Pill,” is a combination oral contraceptive.
It is taken to prevent pregnancy. It includes two forms of female hormones: ethinylestradiol, an oestrogen, and a Low dosage of the progestogen levonorgestrel.
You are protected against pregnancy in three different ways by the combined contraceptive pill. These hormones:
- prevent each month’s egg release from the ovary (ovulation)
- make it more challenging for the sperm to reach the egg by thickening the fluid in your cervix (at the neck of the womb)
- change the lining of the womb to reduce the likelihood that it will receive a fertilised egg
